[18:19:47] <@Fats> The runners have taken cover behind the concrete slab that has just served them as a table and chairs in Wonderland bar at Khasan coast, since apparently the local gangers are keen on settling their scores with violence right here and now.
[18:19:47] <@Fats> Several bullets whizz past you harmlessly, then a larger-caliber one leaves a crack in the slab that served as your seating.
[18:19:47] <@Fats> Then the troll that the Molotov thrown by the ork gangers turned into a howling torch comes running straight at your group. If you don't do something, he seems poised to crash into you, dousing you with burning gasoline (and pieces of burned troll flesh).
[18:20:52] <Won> ( Quick recap on how you all do ic, ooc, and subchat? I forgot which symbol is which. )
[18:21:02] <@Fats> * this is ooc
[18:21:17] <@Fats> * - is speaking aloud = is subvoc
[18:21:24] <Won> * Thanks
[18:21:51] <Won> - I can't have burning troll flesh hit me, it'll ruin my image. We should probably move.
[18:22:26] <@Nebokhod> 16#sd throw the troll back to gangers via levitate
[18:22:27] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 16) 7 hits
[18:22:51] <Won> 10#sd Shitpost roll that can be ignored of Judge Intentions on the flaming troll
[18:22:52] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 10) 3 hits
[18:22:57] <@Nebokhod> 12#sd vs 3
[18:22:59] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 12) 4 hits
[18:23:11] <Che> - Drek!
[18:23:49] * Che checks his gun.
[18:24:02] <@Nebokhod> - Lively place.
[18:24:22] * @Nebokhod looks around if there an metahuman that looks like Karachenzov
[18:24:38] <@Nebokhod> *-z +ts
[18:24:39] <@Fats> Won, the troll does not appear to have any plans for the immediate future other than running around soaked with burning gasoline.
[18:25:19] <Won> Truely an artist of these trying times.
[18:25:56] * Won makes a note of it to blog about in the tertiary modern art blog while checking that he remembered to put ammo in his gun today.
[18:25:57] <@Fats> Nebokhod, you've successfully picked the troll off the ground with your magic. Drops of burning liquid drip off him, making for an eerily fancy sight much like a slow-motion fireworks, if fireworks could howl
[18:26:29] <Won> - Not sure if we'll need it, but theres a doberman in my trunk.
[18:26:51] <@Fats> Nebokhod, the closest you have to Karachentsov is one of the ork gangers, but it's not a close likeness.
[18:27:16] <@Nebokhod> * nah, that's the use that's like Fling spell and spellcasting roll is an attack roll, and damage is up to GM.
[18:27:19] <@Fats> * Nebokhod, anything you are planning to do with the troll? Or are you going to just let him roast?
[18:27:44] <@Nebokhod> *SR4A. 210
[18:32:37] * Won is ultimately useless in this situation so he's just looking out while mostly trying to not get shot
[18:33:01] <@Fats> Propelled by Lucas's magic, the troll drifts through the air above the firefight before crashing into the middle of the ork lines. This seems to mess up the gangers' battleplan, as one of them, who was using a shotgun, is burned up and falls back, and the rest move from cover and into the trolls' return fire
[18:34:09] <@Nebokhod> * hm, ~12m/s
[18:34:18] <Won> * Oh, whats nearby the cover they went into? Anything that can explode, violently short circuit, etc?
[18:35:21] <@Fats> * oh, it's Force x net hits, I was for some reason sure it was + net hits. Yeah, he's more flying than drifting.
[18:35:31] * Che quickly looks over slab.
[18:35:35] <Che> - Good work!
[18:36:23] <@Fats> Won, the bar is mostly concrete slabs stolen from the highways or unfinished buildings in the Khasan coast district, so there's plenty of non-explosive cover to go around
[18:36:45] <Won> * Darn.
[18:36:59] <@Fats> The fight seems to shift in the trolls' favour, thanks to Nebokhod flushing the orks from their cover.
[18:38:35] <@Nebokhod> *how covered are we from fire from both groups?
[18:39:23] <@Fats> I'm going to say you have full cover
[18:40:22] <@Nebokhod> - So, gentlemen, any suggestions?
[18:40:44] <Won> - We can just sit here until it blows over.
[18:41:02] <Che> - Yeah.
[18:42:06] * Won is enjoying the scent of Cram as he says this.
[18:42:44] <Che> - I hope they still have some of their brain and will get the drek out of here after finishing their bussiness.
[18:43:10] <Che> - It's a slim chance, but nevertheless.
[18:44:17] <@Fats> Of course, this is the moment your mark and his SURGEd companion choose to walk into the bar.
[18:44:17] <@Fats> The guy is wearing the samurai makeup you saw in his dossier. His torso is heavily armoured, but he's showing off his massive cyberarms. They're covered with synthskin, but it's already cut up and torn in pieces, as often happens with novice implant users unused to the lack of regeneration. He appears elated by the sight before him, - gang fights must be new to him, - produces a katana, and enthusiastically joins the fight, chopping at the orks
[18:44:17] <@Fats> from behind.
[18:44:18] <@Fats> His companion is very obviously SURGEd. She's wearing a tight-hugging chameleon suit, but her hood is down, revealing her fox ears poking from among her red hair, and she's got a fox tail swishing freely. All in all you could call her quite striking. Unlike the enthusiastic Reaper, Allison - since this surely must be the accomplice your Johnson warned you about, - dives for cover right at the entrance, but does her best to help the sam with her
[18:44:26] <@Fats> heavy pistol.
[18:45:24] <@Fats> Reaper charges the fray, cutting down at least three gangers in half a dozen of seconds, but he's out in the open, and an ork with an SMG appears poised to pack him full of lead from the flank.
[18:45:30] <@Fats> * anything you do, runners?
[18:46:01] <Che> - Oh, for drek sake!..
[18:46:38] <Won> - Oh, wonderful. I'm hacking the P.A. system, maybe we can fool them into thinking the cops are coming.
[18:46:40] <@Nebokhod> 14#sd f9 stunbolt at the ork
[18:46:40] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 14) 5 hits
[18:46:58] <@Nebokhod> 12#sd vs 3
[18:46:59] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 12) 4 hits
[18:47:12] <@Fats> * 3 net hits
[18:47:15] <Won> 9#sd Logging into the P.A. system
[18:47:16] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 9) 4 hits
[18:47:38] <@Nebokhod> * 12S then
[18:48:15] <@Fats> With a bright orange flash, the ork collapses.
[18:48:26] * Che keeps overwatch with his gun in case of a new treats.
[18:49:36] <@Nebokhod> - That one was on the house!
[18:49:44] <@Fats> Che, the other orks appear quite underwhelmed with a mage joining their fight so blatantly, and since mana is still giving off background glow around Nebokhod, a couple of them try to target your team's caster
[18:49:45] <Che> - Sometimes you scare me with your majiks.
[18:50:16] <Che> * suppressing fi-i-ire-e-e!
[18:50:47] <Che> * hm, have Che ever shot his gun before?
[18:51:04] <@Fats> Won, in a pinch, you punch through the speakers' firewall to grab user-level access.
[18:51:41] <Won> * Am I able to see their file list, or do I just have a direct stream into their speakers?
[18:52:01] <@Nebokhod> * are they shooting at me?
[18:52:05] * Che takes potshots at the orks trying to force them to keep their heads low.
[18:52:17] <@Fats> Won, both, but their file list is overwhelingly just Ork Rock
[18:52:43] <Won> * Assuming that means theres nothing like "PLAY IN CASE OF COPS.flac"
[18:52:53] <@Fats> Nebokhod, yep. Noticing a spellcaster is Perception (6 - spell's force), if I remember, so Force 9 spell is incredibly obvious
[18:53:14] <@Fats> * Won, cops? What cops?
[18:53:28] <@Fats> Che, your shooting skill roll, if you please
[18:53:35] <Won> * I'm not sure what you mean by that question.
[18:53:38] <Che> *one moment
[18:53:46] * @Nebokhod hunkers down and starts to summon a spirit
[18:54:08] <@Fats> * Won, cops avoid this district generally, and this bar in particular
[18:54:53] <Won> * Ah. Crabapples.
[18:54:58] <@Nebokhod> *f4 spirit of water, looks like rusalka
[18:55:01] <Che> * chummer reports Alta's dicepoll as 12, can I trust it?
[18:55:47] <Won> * The plan was to try and spook them into dispersing with a fake announcement.
[18:55:52] <@Nebokhod> 14#sd vs 4#sd
[18:55:53] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 14) 4 hits; (pool 4) 1 hit
[18:56:04] <@Nebokhod> 12#sd vs 2
[18:56:05] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 12) 4 hits
[18:56:11] <@Fats> * Won, you still have full access to the speakers, and can broadcast whatever you wish. If you want a voice other than your own, it's a simple Computer+Edit Test
[18:56:40] <@Fats> Nebokhod, the spirit appears near you
[18:56:44] <Won> * Hm. Alright.
[18:56:52] <Che> 12#sd
[18:56:52] <ur_dnd_bot> Che: (pool 12) 4 hits
[18:57:31] <@Nebokhod> * optional power: elemental attack whatever's approproate.
[18:58:01] * @Nebokhod commands the spirit to attack the orks that shot at him specifically.
[18:59:38] <@Nebokhod> * water, I guess.
[18:59:39] * Won uses the speaker to make a false announcement, "If you make me clean up a mess this big your entire gang is gonna be banned." He's using an editted voice
[18:59:42] <Won> 9#sd
[18:59:42] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 9) 2 hits
[18:59:52] <@Fats> The rigger's shooting forces the ork gangers' heads down. Before they have a chance to switch position, Reaper and Nebokhod's spirit come at them like a freight train, leaving little but blood and guts splattered all over the floor, the concrete slabs that serve as tables, and you're quite sure that the ceiling, too.
[19:02:19] * Che tries to remember all the impact places of his rounds, so he can collect them later.
[19:03:16] <@Fats> Won's voice seems too synthetic even for the barkeep, so the gangs appear to ignore it. However, having suffered noticeable losses, the orks seem to be falling back. They dart out of the bars' doors, leaving a single ganger to suppress the trolls and whoever else tries to chase them. Reaper does, but Allison intercepts him by the exit, grabbing him by the hand. Your spirit, Nebokhod, does charge after one of the gangers that shot at you, and
[19:03:16] <@Fats> judging by emotional feedback you're receiving from it, the ganger's fate us suitably grim.
[19:05:38] <@Nebokhod> - So, boys, the fuck that was about?
[19:05:44] <Che> - Looks like that foxy girl is the voice of reason in their duo.
[19:06:05] <@Fats> As the orks leave the premises, the rest of the patrons return to their seats as if nothing has happened. One of the trolls, through, a broad-shouldered ganger with a complex tribal tattoo across his face that incorporates the letters С Л О Н, walks up to your "table" and slaps Che's and Nebokhod's shoulders, saying: "I see you're alright folks eh, come joins us fer a drink".
[19:06:10] * Won disconnects from the speaker.
[19:06:59] <@Fats> Won, you can't be sure that your direct intrusion went unnoticed, but even if not, the barkeep knows better than too voice his concern too loudly
[19:07:36] * Won makes a note to leave a big tip for his jet fuel
[19:07:38] <@Nebokhod> - Heh, the booze that they serve here is so potent that sniffing is enough for the wimps like us *smiles"
[19:08:31] * @Nebokhod looks if ours survived the shootout.
[19:09:00] <Won> = I'm going to study Reaper while you two make new friends. It seems like I'd be intruding.
[19:09:03] <Che> - Thanks for invite, chum. What all that drek was about?
[19:11:10] <@Fats> - Bah, - the troll waves his hand, - The usual ork drek. They dress like fags, try to steal our gigs, and when we catch one of theirs to have some good ol' fun, they 'have like tis the end 'o the worl', - he gives you a gap-toothed grin, - So, you joinin' us eh?
[19:11:48] <Che> - Eh, why not?
[19:11:50] * @Nebokhod orders the spirit to clean up all the astral traces and assense the Reaper and his girl friend.
[19:12:50] <@Fats> Won, it appears that the foxgirl is giving Reaper a brief lecture on the reasons not to charge into a random gang shootout. As he's cleaning his katana, he's rolling his eyes hard, like a schoolboy who knows he's messed up but is unwilling to admit it.
[19:14:53] * Che makes some small talk with trolls, trying to make friends and get some info on the local situation.
[19:15:11] <@Fats> Che, the troll leads you to their part of the common room. It smacks even worse than the rest of it of cheap ethanol mixed with liquids that you're pretty sure are not supposed to be mixed into a metahuman metabolism. The troll presses you into a seat, and the littlest of their company pours you a beer glass from a five-leter plastic canister. Surprisingly, it only smells of ethanol this time.
[19:15:43] <@Fats> - Well, to victory! - the troll that brought you proclaims. The other gangers raise glasses.
[19:16:06] * Che raises his glass.
[19:16:09] <@Nebokhod> - To victory.
[19:16:18] <Che> - Eternal.
[19:16:58] <@Fats> The trolls clink their glasses all together with yours; it doesn't appear they have any issue gulping down 50+ degrees alcohol.
[19:17:04] <@Fats> * Body x2, please.
[19:17:18] <Che> 6#sd
[19:17:18] <ur_dnd_bot> Che: (pool 6) 1 hit
[19:17:19] <@Nebokhod> 8#sd
[19:17:20] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 8) 5 hits
[19:18:10] <@Fats> Nebokhod, your spirit returns, reporting heavy augmentation in Reaper, including at least two cyberlimbs and wired reflexes, and light augmentation in Allyson, mostly for flexibility.
[19:18:15] <Che> * Hmm, to edge reroll or not?
[19:19:38] <@Fats> Won, you see Allyson briefly hug Reaper and peck him on his forehead, all in maybe two seconds straight; his expression mellows significantly at that. The duo invites themselves to the trolls' table.
[19:19:52] <@Fats> * Che, up to you if you want to be functional in this scene.
[19:20:17] <Che> * Then yes.
[19:20:30] * Won is going to wait for the duo to join the party before joining the table as well.
[19:20:49] <Che> * remind me - I'm adding my edge to nothitted dice, yes?
[19:22:05] <@Fats> * you're either adding your Edge to the roll BEFORE you make it, or spend a point of Edge to reroll the dice that didn't come up as hits
[19:22:21] <Che> * ah.
[19:22:29] <Che> 5#sd
[19:22:29] <ur_dnd_bot> Che: (pool 5) 4 hits
[19:22:36] <Che> * yay.
[19:22:59] <Che> * now that's proper russian.
[19:22:59] <@Nebokhod> * You may declare the use of Edge af er you have rolled for one test. In this case, you may roll a number of extra dice equal to your full Edge attribute and add their hits to the test’s total.
[19:23:34] <@Nebokhod> * rule of six applies to these additional dies.
[19:23:39] <@Nebokhod> *dice
[19:26:58] <@Fats> Nebokhod, Che, the swill seems to have hit just the spot. It's warming, but not burning, even if it leaves a strong aftertaste of medicine on your palate. There seems to be a jar of pickles on the table just for this occasion.
[19:27:33] * @Nebokhod picks out the crunchiest
[19:28:01] <@Fats> * Nebokhod, you're right: after a test, you can either reroll the dice that weren't hits (without Rule of Six), or roll and add your Edge dice (with Rule of Six). It's on SR4AE p.74, if anyone's interested.
[19:31:04] * Che follows Nebokhod's example and picks a pickle.
[19:31:06] <@Fats> Of all you've tried in this bar so far, the pickles certainly resemble metahuman food the most. A troll sitting next to you notices your grab and comments: "Like 'em? I pickled them meself". With certain anxiety you recognize the troll as a female, as she smiles and lays her hand upon yours (and hers is about four times larger).
[19:31:45] <Che> - They're awesome!
[19:32:27] <Che> - Are you making pierogis too by chance?
[19:33:21] <@Fats> Won, as Reaper and Allyson walk through the bar, they unceremoniously grab a few patrons, including the smuggler sniper you saw before and you; bringing them all to the troll's table. Allyson exchanges a couple of words with the largest troll at the table, - she must know him, apparently, - and you're all seated around the same slab of cracked concrete.
[19:34:31] <@Fats> Che, the trollin shifts her attention to you effortlessly, smiling a smile those fainter of heart would call far too toothy: "Like you wouldn't believe, handsome. Wanna try?"
[19:35:01] <Che> - Sure!
[19:36:21] <@Fats> She stands up, - you notice her being quite curvy under the ganger leathers, - and pulls Che aside easily for introductions and exchanging commcall numbers.
[19:37:12] <@Nebokhod> * slit-eyed foreingners are stealing our wimmin too!!111
[19:37:43] * Che notes to self to look into getting this girl a nice cushy job at Mihalych's kitchen.
[19:37:58] <Won> * ...Is Nebo the only russian on the team?
[19:38:01] <@Fats> Meanwhile, Reaper speaks up: "So, noble runners, I have a run to make! It pays reasonably well, but make sure you're up for trouble as it might rear its ugly head!" - you're pretty sure he's quoting this from Karl Kombatmage, too, and the trolls appear less than enthusiastic.
[19:38:19] <@Fats> * Won, Lucas? Russian?
[19:38:37] <Che> * Russian - is not in your genes - it's in your soul!
[19:38:48] <@Nebokhod> * Russian national!
[19:39:46] * Won feigns interest
[19:40:18] <@Nebokhod> - Oh? Sounds delightful.
[19:40:22] <Che> - Well, we have skills if you have money.
[19:40:25] <@Fats> - It pays about a hundred grand, but we're going to need aid with it! Are you up for some hardcore running?! - he proclaims with pathos; but is met with remarkably little enthusiasm.
[19:40:36] * Che feigns another quote from kimbatmage.
[19:40:53] <@Nebokhod> - Almost like these pickles.
[19:40:58] <@Fats> * from elsewhere at the table that is (and Che's out and about, grappled by a troll)
[19:41:13] <Che> * yes!
[19:41:37] <@Nebokhod> - What's the job, my dude?
[19:41:49] * Che returns his attention to the trollin.
[19:41:56] <@Fats> - Fresh and crunchy? - the Chinese asks, and you notice that he has a linguasoft plug in a jack behind his ear, explaining his almost unaccented Russian.
[19:43:01] <@Fats> - The job is setting a poor corporate drone free! By his own will! - the guy answers, - Evo's been using him like a slave, as megacorps are wont to do!
[19:43:47] <Won> = This might be more interesting than our original plan, but it might not be as safe.
[19:44:27] <@Nebokhod> * i sense another 4 hour therapy session in the making
[19:44:49] <@Fats> * you don't know a half of it
[19:45:07] <@Fats> * /me giggles in a stereotypically villainish manner
[19:45:35] <@Nebokhod> * also we need to somehow turn this run in the most epic of barcrawls.
[19:48:22] <@Fats> Reaper bores you with arousing speeches for at least a quarter hour more before getting to specifics: there's an employee at an EVO research compound, and he wants out. He's hired Reaper and Allyson for this, but they feel they need additional muscle. After a lot of talking and a few more rounds of troll swill, it appears that the prime candidates to join the run are the Che, Nebokhod and Won, as well as a troll ganger named Tiny and the blind
[19:48:22] <@Fats> smuggler sniper who says his name is Vasily Alibabaevich.
[19:49:19] <@Fats> The pay is to be divided equally, and Reaper won't have it any other way. So if you have any objections to the team's composition, now is the time to voice up.
[19:49:58] * Won emails his business companions that Operation Training Wheels won't be happening due to this new development.
[19:50:12] <@Nebokhod> - So, I gotta ask, do we really need a sniper for the job?
[19:50:38] * Che listens to the talk from away, allowing his companions to speak biz.
[19:51:33] <@Fats> Allyson gives Nebokhod the sweetest of looks: "Of course dearie" - she exhales, - "What kind of runner team goes without long-range support?"
[19:52:06] <@Fats> * Intuition + Charisma to anyone willing to Judge Intentions
[19:52:14] <Che> * even Che?
[19:52:22] <@Nebokhod> 5#sd
[19:52:23] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 5) 2 hits
[19:52:39] <Che> 8#sd
[19:52:39] <ur_dnd_bot> Che: (pool 8) 4 hits
[19:53:35] <Won> * My Judge Intentions says 10, but I don't have Intuition on my sheet and my Charisma is 5?
[19:53:42] <@Nebokhod> - Am I not long enough range support for you?
[19:53:57] <Che> * Intuition is INT
[19:54:14] <Won> * Oh. Oooh, wow, I totally glossed over it
[19:54:19] <Che> * just below your CHArisma
[19:54:24] <Won> 10#sd
[19:54:25] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 10) 2 hits
[19:54:27] <@Fats> Che, you have your attention largely consumed the trollin, but manage a few glances at the table where your next run is decided. Still, you're neither really here nor there.
[19:55:16] <@Fats> All the runners judge the foxgirl's reasoning to be quite straightforward.
[19:55:36] <Won> - Makes sense.
[19:56:51] <Che> - Oh, girl, they planning something serious over there, let's finish with running biz first, shall we?
[19:56:56] <@Fats> - A mage is a mage, he's always in a league of his own, - Allyson flatters, - Always busy with astral recon, or counterspelling, or mind control, - she again gives Lucas a sweetest smile, earning him a jealous look from Reaper.
[19:57:33] * @Nebokhod raises a brow
[19:57:34] <@Fats> Che, the trollin has trouble keeping her hands to herself, but she lets you go if you promise to call ASAP.
[19:58:06] <@Nebokhod> * Herr Chenelig
[19:58:14] <Che> - Sweety, don't worry! I have so many plans for you!
[19:58:23] <@Fats> * feel free to roll any suitable social skill (I assume Negotiation, unless you have other ideas) if you want to get rid of the sniper
[19:58:53] <Won> * Did we accidentally join a high school theater club?
[19:59:03] <@Fats> * twelve best bikes Che will receive from her, produced between Tilno and Terno
[20:01:41] <@Fats> * so, no, no takers on Social rolls?
[20:01:45] <@Nebokhod> * nah
[20:01:53] <Che> - Can we first try to resolve that without excessive violence?
[20:02:03] <Won> * Nah, this seems like a fairly reasonable setup
[20:02:04] <Che> * oh, right
[20:02:24] <@Fats> - Oh don't worry, - the foxgirl coos, - All violence is necessary.
[20:02:37] <Won> * Oh, wait. Uh. What would be the check to see if theres any potential on-the-job drama with this setup?
[20:02:58] * Che joins the discussion at the table.
[20:03:00] <@Nebokhod> * https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T68oHkdMNfM
[20:03:01] <@Fats> * what kind of drama do you have in mind, Won?
[20:03:18] <Won> * The kind that would result in Reaper dying due to bickering.
[20:03:27] <Won> * Or decisions made with jealousy
[20:04:04] <@Fats> Che finds that his van and his skills have been used as a strong bargaining point for the rest of the group to join on the run, so it appears it falls to him to ferry everyone around. Again.
[20:04:52] <Che> * it's not a van - it's SUV!
[20:05:10] <@Fats> Won, Allyson does not in the slightest appear to be stupid, and she seems to have Reaper wrapped around her finger for good. So yeah, there is obvious potential for all kinds of trouble.
[20:05:31] <Won> * Suburban Utility Vehicle?
[20:05:56] <@Fats> * SUbmarine: Vertical takeoff :3
[20:06:21] <Che> * superior uber vehicle
[20:06:41] <Che> * inb4 V for Van.
[20:07:18] <Won> * Hmmm
[20:08:07] <@Fats> * if it was easy, your Johnson wouldn't be hiring you, he'd be sending his goons
[20:10:41] <Che> * hmmm, we can always sabotage the run, kill everybody, except Reaper, and call it a day. Oh well, we're no so evil, right?
[20:10:50] <Won> * Exactly
[20:11:10] <Won> * I can probably also be a broken record and fabricate a juicier job for the unwanted companions
[20:11:37] <@Fats> Reaper slams his fist on the concrete, apparently with more strength than expected, since cracks run from the impact site, making the trolls around whistle respectfully: "Then it's DECIDED. We're going to free that poor drone and show his evil corporate masters what's what in this world! Let's set off for adventure!" He stands up from the table, tailed by Allyson, and walks outside.
[20:12:17] * Che shrugs.
[20:12:22] * Won half-whispers to the table, "Is he expecting to start like. Right now?"
[20:12:33] <@Nebokhod> - Looks like it.
[20:12:38] <Won> - Amazing.
[20:12:43] <@Nebokhod> - Fucking amateur hour,
[20:14:24] * @Nebokhod sends Won a text: "I want a dirt on that kitsune and her sniperboi stat"
[20:14:34] <@Fats> His troll acquaintance follows Che with her best puppy eyes impression as she makes a commcall sign with her index finger and pinky.
[20:15:17] * Che walks back to her.
[20:15:38] * @Nebokhod exits the bar
[20:15:38] <Won> = Yeah, I don't trust her or the sniper much either but couldn't come up with a good excuse to nix either.
[20:16:08] * Won gets on that research
[20:16:14] <Won> * I assume Data?
[20:16:36] <Che> - So, girl, I know one fine establishment, that will more than appreciate you culinary skills. Do you want to try it?
[20:16:48] <@Fats> It's been snowing outside, so when you walk out, the pure white cover is ankle-deep. You can still make out traces of the orks as they pulled one of their wounded behind them, though.
[20:17:17] <@Nebokhod> = Running the shadows is rather a perlours enterprise, tragic accidents are the norm of life.
[20:17:18] <@Fats> The trollin gives an unsure half-smile: "As long as I get to see you there..."
[20:17:36] <@Fats> * Won, yes, it'd be a data search roll
[20:17:44] <Che> - Oh, it's my favorite place.
[20:18:03] <Won> 9#sd I forgot how to do the extended test thing if that applies
[20:18:03] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 9) 0 hits
[20:18:27] <Che> - Ok, wait a minute.
[20:18:36] <Won> * Damn it, she knows how to clear the cache after she's done searching
[20:18:38] <@Nebokhod> sde(9,12)
[20:18:43] * Che gets back to Nebokhod and Won.
[20:18:50] <@Nebokhod> sde#(9,12)
[20:18:58] <@Fats> * Won, it's going to be a Threshold 12 test with -3 modifier and an interval of 1 minute
[20:19:05] <Won> * Blorp
[20:19:26] <@Fats> * you will also be pretty much unconscious for the duration
[20:19:31] <Che> - Where they went, our new friends?
[20:19:36] <@Nebokhod> 6,12#sde
[20:19:36] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 6, threshold 12) 6 passes, 12 hits
[20:19:48] <Won> 9,12#sde Doing the search
[20:19:49] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 9, threshold 12) 4 passes, 12 hits
[20:19:53] <@Fats> The trollin nods towards the exit
[20:20:03] <Won> * Brb
[20:20:20] <Che> * hm, is trollin have a name?
[20:21:04] <Che> * or our introductions were not finished?
[20:21:13] <@Fats> * Where is Won when he starts the search?
[20:21:28] <Won> * In the van, it'd be weird to use the car given the circumstances.
[20:21:47] <Won> * He tells his driver to go ahead and take the car out for the day and see the sights until he needs her help.
[20:22:08] <@Fats> * Che, she didn't introduce herself, but if you asked, she goes by simple Maria the Cook (or just Masha for friends)
[20:22:54] <Won> * I spaced on the -3, whoops.
[20:23:06] <Won> 6,12#sde
[20:23:07] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 6, threshold 12) 6 passes, 14 hits
[20:23:24] <@Fats> * perception (visual) tests from everyone, please
[20:23:34] <@Nebokhod> 10#sd
[20:23:34] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 10) 3 hits
[20:23:40] <Won> 4#sd
[20:23:40] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 4) 1 hit
[20:24:20] <Che> 9#sd
[20:24:20] <ur_dnd_bot> Che: (pool 9) 1 hit
[20:25:11] <@Fats> Nebokhod, as Won dives into the Matrix, you can see Allyson looking at him pointedly.
[20:25:48] <Che> * are they all in my car?
[20:25:51] <Won> * Does Won wake up soon enough to see her staring?
[20:25:54] <@Nebokhod> - What, the man needs his porn, don't judge him.
[20:25:54] <@Fats> There is no doubt she's aware what it is he's doing, since legwork on the Matrix is pretty standard for a beginning of the run.
[20:26:18] <@Fats> * Che, can they all fit, to begin with?
[20:26:31] <@Fats> * Won, not unless Lucas warns him
[20:26:53] <Won> * I should have done that in the bathroom now that I think about it, too late now, and he was kinda stupidly drunk from that jet fuel anyway.
[20:26:56] <Che> * well, let me check. If I remember right it's up to 5 passengers.
[20:27:53] <@Nebokhod> * /me casts "Summon Bigger Car".
[20:27:55] <Won> * Won is 100% not letting these guys know how nice his car is
[20:28:14] <@Fats> * being a shadowrunner is suffering
[20:28:40] <Won> * Car Politics: The Game
[20:31:06] <Che> * yeah, they should be able to pack in.
[20:31:15] <@Fats> Well, if your SUV fits 5 passengers, you lot should be fine. Well, except for Reaper, who's getting a faceful of fox tail as Allyson sits in his lap.
[20:31:28] <Che> * it's 3 of us + 3 of newbs?
[20:31:49] <@Nebokhod> * 4 of the newbs
[20:32:07] <@Nebokhod> * don't forget the troll.
[20:32:21] <Che> * ah yes.
[20:32:38] <@Fats> Yeah, Reaper and Allyson, Tiny the Troll Ganger, and Vasily Alibabaevich the blind smuggler sniper who moves far too surely for a blind man.
[20:33:06] <Che> * well troll and sniper go back into cargo.
[20:33:14] <Won> * What'd I find out about them?
[20:33:37] <Che> * are we going to EVO right now?
[20:33:46] <Won> * Apparently.
[20:34:06] * Che calls Mihalych and asks about his new find.
[20:34:30] <Won> * When this run is over, we're buying you additional seating
[20:34:33] <@Fats> Che, Allyson suggested you just drive through EVO Islands district and into Downtown, so that you've time to look around and plan.
[20:34:43] <Won> * You're gonna be able to run a movie theater in your SUV by the time we're done
[20:35:21] <Won> *Oh, as long as I'm jacked in I should probably look up stuff about this target and the people keeping them uh. Hostage?
[20:35:29] <Won> * Like, not the company, but the actual immediates
[20:35:49] <Che> * Well, Landrover Defender which is ancestor to that rover 2068 has 4 collapsible seats in the trunk.
[20:36:13] <Won> * Can we get McDonalds?
[20:36:18] <Che> * and 3 + 1 forward.
[20:37:24] <Che> * also, as it has high amenities there is already cinema screens!
[20:37:40] <Che> * and a minibar.
[20:38:06] <Che> * So, Fats any reaction from Mihalych?
[20:38:23] <@Fats> Won, SURGE hit the Sixth World hard, and there are a few people who'd fit Allyson's description. Luckily, few of them can be runners, and fewer still associate with blind snipers. Piece by piece, you gather the info from obscure South Asian news hosts and European anarchist BBCs, until you're relatively sure you can attribute a few subtle breaking and entering runs to this duo. None of them have mentions of a young Chinese street samurai, though.
[20:39:44] <@Fats> Che, Mihalych needs some convincing, but you know he's a good old softie at the core, so he admits he can hire one more cook if she's good.
[20:40:28] <@Fats> Won, that'd be another Data Search like the previous one, except Threshold 24 at -1
[20:40:52] <@Fats> * "that" being the corporate division you're freeing the drone from
[20:40:55] <@Nebokhod> 7#sd assense the smiper
[20:40:56] <ur_dnd_bot> Nebokhod: (pool 7) 4 hits
[20:40:59] * Che assures him, that he won't regret it, and returns to Masha with coordinates of Yakor'.
[20:41:05] <@Fats> Won, you can absolutely get McD
[20:41:25] <Won> 8,24#sde Might as well make it seem like I'm doing the job they hired me. Looking for security detail, etc
[20:41:25] <ur_dnd_bot> Won: (pool 8, threshold 24) 10 passes, 24 hits
[20:41:41] <Won> * I don't think thats your call, its Che's SUV.
[20:41:54] <Won> *Also, Che, I don't want to go to soccer practice today.
[20:42:00] <Won> * Just the McDonalds
[20:42:07] <Che> - Masha, that's the place. Owner promised to give you a chance, and I think you'll make it.
[20:42:18] <@Fats> Nebokhod, well, as was to be expected, the guy is awakened, a Mystical Adept as far as you can tell
[20:42:35] <Che> - I hope I'll survive another day and another run, so I'll meet you there tomorrow.
[20:42:57] <Che> - If not, well, drink for me with Mihalych...
[20:43:06] <@Fats> Won, well, there is McD in the sprawl, at the very least, its soyburgers are all the rage. Whether you convince the rest of the team to follow up one poison with another is entirely up to you, of course
[20:44:37] <@Fats> Che, she's incredibly hesitant of venturing out of her district, much less mingling with an honest day job. You can feel she's much more interested in seeing you than fulfilling employment, so a date is a condition she sets.
[20:46:15] <Che> - Ok, see you tomorrow!
[20:46:47] <@Fats> Won, the subsidiary that Reaper listed is an isolated AI research compound in the EVO Islands. As far as you can tell, it is little more than a large data center where EVO experiments at achieving artificial intelligence in the most straightforward way possible: giving expert systems computing power to spare.
[20:47:25] * Che quickly hugs trollin and gets back to car, where everyone finishes their packing in.
[20:47:31] <Won> * So, very likely the workers aren't actually that protected and most of the security is instead focused on the computers.
[20:47:38] <Che> = Oh, well, what I'm getting myself into?
[20:47:57] * Won jacks out after figuring out where the nearest McD's is on the route.
[20:47:57] <Che> - Everybody ready?
[20:48:11] <@Nebokhod> * has Won shared his findings with us?
[20:48:54] <Won> * Yeah, he'll share it with Neb and Che. He'll share the info about Evo with the entire group.
[20:49:09] <@Nebokhod> = Looks like THE russian woman. Y'now, horses, burning izbas.
[20:49:14] <@Fats> Won, Reaper replies with gusto: "Let hit this hive of scum and villainy!" Vasily Alibabaevich gives you a grim look instead, one that said "What have I gotten myself into".
[20:49:16] <Che> = Can you run this info with our client?
[20:49:56] <Won> * Is that towards me?
[20:50:03] <Che> * yes
[20:50:23] <Won> * Not sure what you're asking then.
[20:50:34] <Che> * check if it's his old friends/enemies.
[20:50:43] <Won> * Sure.
[20:51:02] <Che> * because it looks like they have some interest in our Reaper.
[20:51:26] * Won enteres a secured email with the johnson and sends the information about the Allyson's hires, "Do you know anything about these people?"
[20:51:36] <Che> * so it may be continuation of old feud or something.
[20:51:40] <@Nebokhod> - Are you in any particular hurry? I'd like to have a look-see on the premises before we all charge in.
[20:52:02] <@Nebokhod> * check their movements in the several last days.
[20:52:13] <Che> - Yeah, check for vantage points if anything.
[20:52:15] <@Fats> - Aren't you a mage? - the guy replies.
[20:52:31] <Won> - That jet fuel is burning a hole in my stomach, can we stop off for some makudo?
[20:53:12] <@Nebokhod> - Your point being?
[20:53:41] <Che> - Sure.
[20:53:57] <@Fats> - A mage is supposed to fling fire and thunder at the dull corporate scum, isn't he? Why don't you focus on that?
[20:54:01] <Won> * And now for the true test of companionship between this party
[20:54:11] <Won> * Seeing how they handle splitting the bill and if they bicker over each others' orders
[20:55:07] <@Fats> * I'd note that for everyone but you (since you have Street lifestyle) eating out like this is already included in lifestyle costs :3
[20:55:44] <@Nebokhod> - So all your knowledge of things arcane come from watching Karl the Cumbat Mage or something?
[20:56:57] <Won> * D:
[20:57:40] <Won> * Gonna put it on the credit stick for now and further instigate the debt dogs.
[20:57:59] <@Nebokhod> - Won, do we have any plans of this hive of vilainy?
[20:58:12] <@Fats> * Not in open access, no, Won
[20:59:10] <@Fats> - Of course not! - the guy exclaims, - Allyson also explained a few things to me! But I realize I'm new, and despite me being your leader, I always welcome meaningful feedback!
[21:00:40] <Che> - Run is 99% of preparation and 1% of action, kiddo.
[21:00:42] <Won> * I don't understand what you mean by that, Fats
[21:01:20] <@Nebokhod> - The point is, if you have any desire to have life expectancy worth a damn, you do the needful first - check up on opposition, learn the layout, etc.
[21:01:40] <@Fats> * won, you can have the building plans for the research installation you're to exfiltrate an employee from, but they are not in the results of your data search (since a data search is done only over the openly accessible data)
[21:02:18] <Won> - Speaking of, looks like this place's security is probably gonna be focused around the computers. We can probably safely get our target out with the laundry trick.
[21:02:48] <@Nebokhod> - Laundry what now?
[21:02:49] <Won> * Oh, does that mean I just need to agree to having done it throught hacking, or do I need to roll something?
[21:03:36] <Won> * OH that kind of plan. Layouts. Gotcha.
[21:03:39] <@Fats> - Why would you bother? - he looks genuinely puzzled, - We have two sams, me and Tiny, you, a MAGE, - there's a certain degree of respect in his voice when he uses the term, - Allyson and Vasily to cover our backs, and two hackers to disable whatever weapons and implants the baddies might be using. What's the problem with walking in and just taking whoever we need?
[21:03:50] <Won> * Yeah, he'd definitely do whats necessary to grab those and share them.
[21:04:07] <Won> * I thought you meant like "Do you have a plan from the information you gathered."
[21:04:59] <Won> - To be frank, I'd rather not have to worry about my medical bills eating into my pay, or making any new enemies. Most runners are quite the same.
[21:05:06] <@Fats> * Won, hacking is a bit of a more involved process than a data search
[21:05:14] <@Nebokhod> - And our strength is strenth of ten because our hearts are pure?
[21:05:21] <Won> * Hm.
[21:05:32] <@Fats> - See, you know it yourself, - Reaper nods.
[21:05:34] <Won> * Whats the time estimate to mcdonalds?
[21:05:57] <Won> * And how long would the hacking take?
[21:06:23] <@Nebokhod> - For a start i would like to know that there aren't 20 sams and a dozen of mages at the place.
[21:06:27] <@Fats> * I'd say about an hour, since EVO Islands are more likely to have all kinds of hipster vegan bars or even ghoul bars with metahuman meat, but nothing so low-class as McDs
[21:06:34] <Won> * Cause mcdonalds has priority over a map we'll probably end up generating by just driving around for a bit.
[21:07:03] <Won> * Ah, then we have time to attempt the hack.
[21:07:04] <Che> - Who's our seconf hacker?
[21:07:10] <@Fats> - You?
[21:07:33] <Che> - Nope. Rigging for life.
[21:07:46] <@Fats> * also, I'm being interrupted here for a little while, and there's a high chance that "little while" is turning into "a long while". How about we wrap up for today?
[21:08:00] <Won> * Sure.
[21:08:05] <@Nebokhod> *sure
[21:08:15] * Che removes his hands from the wheel, while continuing to control SUV.
[21:08:30] <@Fats> - But that just means you can replace both a hacker and a samurai, with your awesome DRONES!
[21:08:34] <Che> *ure
[21:08:42] <Won> * The McD's thing really is a test. Seeing if they know how to communicate as a party, and how to actually plan in advance
